Aquino ready to listen to military’s grievances

MANILA, Philippines—President Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III has assured the military of a feedback mechanism that would address its grievances as he acknowledged that there might be some who are "disgruntled" and "demoralized" within the organization.

Aquino gave this assurance on Monday when he presided over the first command conference as commander-in chief of the Armed Forces of the Philippines held at the Camp Aguinaldo in Quezon City.

"One of the things that I did mention before I ended my short remarks today was to ensure that there is a feedback mechanism that follows the chain of command," he told a press conference.

"If you don't get satisfaction, there should be other avenues so that we don't resort to extra constitutional means but I do not subscribe to the idea," he said.

Aquino added, "There might be some who are disgruntled and demoralized but I don't think that is the general perception."

He said his administration is taking appropriate actions to address this issue.
