Separatists call Kashmir shutdown restrictions in Srinagar again

Srinagar: Authorities reimposed curfew-like restrictions in a few places in Srinagar on Sunday even as a shutdown called by separatists paralyzed life in the valley of Kashmir.
After a 24-hour long break curfew, restrictions were back in the Old City and uptown Maisuma and Batmallo areas of the summer capital. State authorities moved heavy police and paramilitary reinforcements in the old city to enforce the restrictions in the early morning.
Road junctions were blocked with barricades and wire coils. Security forces patrolled the sensitive Maisuma Batmallo and places also.
Restrictions were also in the two towns south Kashmir Pulwama and Kakpore to maintain law and order.
Curfew was relaxed on Sunday in the north Kashmir town of Sopor to 11 hours to enable people to buy essential goods, said Sayed Mohammad Khan, Special Commissioner (Baramulla).
But when the curfew was relaxed, mobs indulged in stone pelting in the market.
Limitations of each other, life in Srinagar and other towns was paralyzed due to a protest shutdown called by the Hurriyat Conference group led by hard Syed Ali Geelani.
Shops were closed and vehicles stayed off the road.

Authorities had relaxed curfew in the entire valley of Kashmir on Friday to get people to the special prayers for the Muslim festival of Shab-e-Meraj (Ascension of the Prophet to heaven to join).
During the relaxation, people thronged shops in different places of the capital and other cities to buy essential goods.
